And even though the title says that it is for preschoolers, kids of just about any age will enjoy the process of wrapping the yarn and then putting their own personal touches on this bunny craft. It leaves lots of room for imagination.

How to Make a Bunny Craft for Preschoolers
Step 1: Build the Foundation
Place 3 large popsicle sticks side by side, with the middle one just a little bit higher than the other two.
Put a strip of Elmer’s glue on the fourth large popsicle stick.
Then place that popsicle stick diagonally on top of the other three.
Set it aside and let the glue dry before moving on to step 2.
*This step in the bunny craft for preschoolers is something that you may want to do the night before and let them sit. As a matter of fact, make several so that you can make a family of bunny crafts while you are at it.
Place your glued together popsicle sticks on the paper plate (so that you don’t make a big mess)
Then squeeze out a little white paint off to the side.
Pinch the pompom with the clothespin to form a “paint brush”
Now paint the front of the popsicle sticks (not that part with the diagonal stick across it)
Set it aside to give it some time to dry while you move on to step 3.
Step 3: Use the Bunny Craft Template
Print out the bunny craft template. *If you do not have access to a printer, draw each of the parts free-hand as shown on the template.
Roughly cut out each piece on the rabbit craft template.
Then lay the pieces on the appropriate color of construction paper (eg-ears go on white, nose on pink, et.) and cut out around the shape.
Set them aside and move on to step 4.
*When making this bunny craft with preschoolers, you will want to precut the pieces. The scissors skills needed for this craft are a little beyond most preschoolers, but the rest of it is absolutely perfect for early years crafts.
Step 4: Wrap Up the Rabbit Craft
By now your paint should be dry. If it is not, wait just a little bit until it is thoroughly dry before doing this step.
Tape the end of your white yarn to the back of your painted popsicle sticks.
Then wrap the yarn around and around until, leaving about 1 1/2″ at the top uncovered by the yarn.
Keep wrapping the yarn around your popsicle sticks until your bunny craft is as fuzzy and soft as you want it to be. When you stop is up to you.
When you are finished, snip the end and tape it down to the back of the popsicle sticks where they are not covered by yarn.
The act of wrapping the yarn around and around is a great activity for working on what we OT’s call bilateral coordination. All that really means is the ability to coordinate the hands together. Just think about it…how many tasks do you do every day that require your hands to work together efficiently. For example, as I write this, both of my hands are typing, taking turns, talking to each other so that there is a fluid motion of the sides of the body working together. Improving bilateral coordination is a great way to move toward greater independence.
Step 5: Put the Cute Bunny Craft Together
Use your single hole punch to make some pink punched out circles for the toes of your bunny.
Get out your glue stick and put the little pink pads in place on your bunny’s hands and feet. Look at the picture as a reference.
Also use the glue stick to put the pink centers into your rabbit craft long ears.
Then glue the ears and nose in place.
You will need the Elmer’s glue for the parts that glued onto the yarn wrapped section of your Easter bunny craft. That includes the bunny feet, “hands”
Step 6: Add Details to the Easter Bunny Craft
Now that all of the main parts of your preschool rabbit craft are together, let’s add a few more details.
First, put the eyes in place and draw on a mouth.
The rest of the details are up to you. Give your bunny a bow tie or have him hold a carrot. Make it a girl or a boy with rosy cheeks. This is your bunny craft, and you should make it look however you want. Seriously, use your imagination and make it your own.
