Monday Mocks: Expert 2024 Rookie Mock Draft - Dynasty League Football (2024)

Welcome to Monday Mocks, where I’ll bring you…you guessed it, a new mock draft every Monday during the off-season. In my opinion, drafting is the best part of fantasy football, so I do as much of that as I can. This series will be filled with all types of mocks. We’ll draft startups, rookies, devys, and more.

Not all mock drafts are the same. Recently, I was fortunate enough to host one final dynasty rookie mock draft with the “who’s who” of fantasy content creators. While we all recognize that rookie value will change later this week when players’ landing spots and draft capital are revealed, that’s part of the fun. It’s also important and interesting to recognize which players are gaining or losing value post-draft.

Let’s get to the field who participated in this superflex dynasty rookie mock draft, in the order they selected:

ROUND ONE:

1.01 – Caleb Williams, QB (Fish)

Though he still has many naysayers, we know Williams will be the top overall pick for the Chicago Bears later this week and will be the most popular choice as the 1.01 rookie pick in superflex leagues, as well. Williams will be given every chance to succeed right away as he teams up with DJ Moore, Keenan Allen, D’Andre Swift, and Cole Kmet.

1.02 – Marvin Harrison Jr. (Hribar)

Even in a strong quarterback class, we are likely to see the receiver Harrison come off the board very early, as he does here. Considered the top overall prospect by many scouts, Harrison is among the safest players in the class, but also has tons of upside. He’s already being valued as a dynasty WR1.

1.03 – Malik Nabers, WR (Kelly)

Right behind Harrison, and even ahead of him in some rankings, comes LSU’s Nabers. More of a big-play threat, Nabers too is already a top-12 dynasty receiver and expected to be among the top-ten picks in Thursday’s Draft. Kelly makes the pick here and projects Nabers to land with the Jets following a trade up.

1.04 – Jayden Daniels, QB (Hartitz)

We’ve gotten mixed reports on LSU’s Daniels when it comes to his potential landing spot. Consistent buzz over the past couple of weeks, including from ESPN’s Adam Schefter, suggested Daniels being selected by the Commanders with the second overall pick was a virtual lock. Now, with Thursday’s Draft nearing, it seems that Daniels’ visit to Washington may not have gone well.

1.05 – Rome Odunze, WR (Zachariason)

The duo of Harrison and Nabers continue to steal the limelight, pushing many to suggest the WR3 Odunze is actually underrated. Regardless, the Washington product is still being projected as a top-ten pick in the Draft. The concern will be landing spot with many landmine situations in the middle-third of the first round.

1.06 – Drake Maye, QB (Silva)

Like Odunze in some ways, Maye is being overlooked by many as the third option at his position in this stacked draft class. Even if he is just the QB3, Maye will likely be a top-three overall pick. Landing spot is also a concern for him as dynasty managers are seemingly hands-off when it comes to the New England Patriots, who own the third overall selection.

1.07 – Brock Bowers, TE (McDowell)

The final player in an elite tier of the top-seven prospects, Bowers is being called the best tight end prospect of all time. While that can be questioned, Bowers is clearly a freak athlete. Bowers’ stock has seemingly been falling but that seems to be more about team needs than anything regarding the Georgia standout. Personally, I’m rooting for Bowers to slide down to the fifteenth pick, landing with the Colts.

1.08 – Brian Thomas, WR (Clay)

The next tier begins with Thomas, the third LSU Tiger among the top-eight rookies. Thomas enjoyed a breakout final college season, leading the nation in receiving scores. Those one-year wonder questions had some still worried about the big-play receiver but his dominant Combine performance changed that. Thomas is viewed as a top-twenty NFL Draft pick and would be a great value in the middle of Round One in rookie drafts.

1.09 – JJ McCarthy, QB (Barrett)

A seriously polarizing player, former Michigan quarterback McCarthy could become a steal at this value or a total waste of a first-rounder. McCarthy is continually labeled as a winner, but the Wolverine passing offense was always limited. McCarthy could be picked as early as fourth overall.

1.10 – Ladd McConkey, WR (Berry)

With Thomas (WR4) and McCarthy (QB4) off the board, this marks the beginning of another value tier. My favorite player in this range is the same as Berry’s, Georgia’s McConkey. Another player who gained value and moved up draft boards following the NFL Combine, McConkey has a chance to sneak into the late part of round one.

1.11 – Adonai Mitchell, WR (Harmon)

This is simple. If Matt Harmon likes a wide receiver, I usually like him, too. This time, it’s Texas’s Mitchell, who is likely a Round One pick on Thursday night. Mitchell’s relatively meager stat line through his college career is reason for concern. Mitchell will be very landing-spot dependent.

1.12 – Jonathon Brooks, RB (Bloom)

After months of uncertainty, Texas’ Brooks has seemingly emerged as the clear RB1 in the NFL Draft and likely dynasty rookie drafts. Brooks has often been projected to be the Cowboys’ pick in Round Two. If that happens, Brooks will gain massive value.
