This week saw good stripers taken from Maryland to Maine, with a strong showing for surfcasters, who found big bass feeding within casting distance of the beach all throughout the Northeast.

As large bunker schools continue to pop up along the coast this week, big bass remain widespread from Jersey to Massachusetts, and 40-inch bass continue to flood southern Maine.

Big bass up to 50 pounds are stationed outside of Raritan and Jamaica Bays, waves of stripers from 10 to 30 pounds are rounding Montauk, and bass in the upper 30- to 40-inch class chase a smorgasbord of bait outside Boston.

The last week of May saw some good fishing following the full moon, with a huge variety of baitfish tempting stripers, including bunker, mackerel, butterfish, alewives, and bay anchovies.
